Impact Grant Opportunities

There are four opportunities for competitive grant funding for IMPACT Model Schools for the 2007-2008 academic year. Each grant has specific qualifications. Please read these descriptions carefully.

Eligibility - General Information

  • From what official statistics and where are they available? Are the poverty levels determined for eligibility--.the (A) part of the eligibility.?
    • Poverty data used for eligibility is determined using the FY07-08 Federal Planning Allotment Data of LEAs from the Financial & Business Department here at DPI.

IMPACT I - Upgrade Eligibility:

  • Recipients of original IMPACT grant who continued full-time employment of Media Coordinator and Technology Facilitator
  • Timeline:
    • December 21, 2007 - Application due
    • March 2008 - Grant awards
    • September 2008 - Encumbrance deadline

IMPACT II - Year 2 Eligibility

IMPACT III

  • Schools from districts that successfully completed the IMPACTing Leadership training and will support a full-time Media Coordinator and Technology Facilitator with local funds during the 2008-2009 school year.
  • Grant funds may not be used for personnel

IMPACT IV Eligibility

  • Eligibility is based on federal guidelines of (A) is among the local education agencies in a State with the highest numbers (> 10,000) or percentages (> 20%) of children from families with incomes below the poverty line; and (B) (i) operates one or more schools identified under section 1116 (Title I); or (ii) has a substantial need for assistance in acquiring and using technology; or (C) receives an EETT formula grant amount that is not of sufficient size to be effective or consistent with the purposes of NCLN EETT or (D) is a middle or high school that has a feeder school(s) that is/are identified under section 1116 (Title I). LEAS must guarantee media coordinator and technology facilitator position funding for 12 months to be considered for funding. Grant funds may not be used to pay for personnel.

    • January 22, 2008 - Finalist interviews
    • February 2008 - Grant awards
