A supportive adminstration and Media Technology Advisory Committee is an essential component of an IMPACT school.
The formative evaluation is an ongoing process that measures the impact of strategies used to meet program objectives and thereby be successful in attaining long-range summative evaluation goals. For example, by using data collected from evaluations of professional development can be used to determine if more professional develoment is needed or if a different type of professional development is needed. Formative evaluation measures what happened when a strategy is implemented.
The summative evaluation consists of establishing long-term goals and ways to measure program success through projected outcomes and benchmarks using objective measures. Using North Carolina's ABC's as long-range goals, results of scores on End of Grand or End of Course and other standardizes output measures can be used to determine baseline data and to project what those scores will be after 3-4 years of targeted intervention. Management of this evaluation would be to ensure planned intervention occurred and to what extent.
