Week

to Primary Source Materials,
Understanding Spreadsheets
Homework
for the Teacher
This
week, your students will:
- begin
using Primary and Secondary Source Materials to get a richer
and more descriptive explanation of the past that simply
cannot be obtained from textbooks
- analyze,
evaluate, and practice making inferences using Primary Source
Documents
- continue
learning about spreadsheets
- expand
research projects by writing search statements using Boolean
operators (taught in Weeks 8-12 of TechKnow Park)
Check
out an abundance of Primary
Source Teaching Resources (definitions, more links,
and additional teaching strategies).
Why
not let your students create their own interactive online quizzes
about measurement or any topic? It would be a great way to
let them review for a test. Here are a few to try:

fun, try the Standards
Finder, by Fun Brain, to view interactive quizzes already
matched to curriculum standards.
Reading
Strategy Spotlight
Question! Have
students ask questions of themselves, questions of the authors,
and questions regarding the validity of text. Questioning is
fundamental to being alive. Questions help children formulate
beliefs. What questions do they have before they start to read?
What questions rise to the surface while they are reading? What
questions would they like to ask the author? What questions will
go unanswered?
