IMPACT III

  • May any of these grant funds be used for personnel cost?
    • No
  • If the Media Coordinators or Technology Facilitors are not 12 month employees in our district, are we ineligible for IMPACT III funding?
    • It is our recommendation that they be employed for 12 months. If these positions are not 12 months, the personnel should be aware that there are some required activities in the summer.
  • Would a 1/2 time media assistant plus a 1/2 time technology assistant at a school with less than 500 students would meet the full time media assistant requirement?
    • No, the grant requires a full-time media assistant. We want these schools to be model IMPACT programs. A full-time media assistant is essential in allowing the Media Coordinator to work collaboratively with teachers.
  • Can a district who did not participate in the IMPACTing Leadership grant apply for IMPACT III funding?
    • No, only school districts who were awarded funding through IMPACTing Leadership and successfully completed all grant requirements may apply.
  • Can a school district apply if they successfully participated in the IMPACTing Leadership grant but do not provide funding for a full-time technology facilitator?
    • No, only schools districts that hire technology facilitators may apply.
  • If an LEA had 3 schools that participated in the IMPACTing Leadership grant, do all 3 schools have to apply for IMPACT III?
    • No. Participation in IMPACT III is determined by each eligible schools.
  • The principal that participated in IMPACTing Leadership in 2006-2007 is no longer in our school, do we still qualify?
    • Due to the nature of the IMPACT III Study, participation in IMPACTing Leadership, by the current principal of the school, is a requirement to qualify. If the principal has left the school, the school no longer qualifies. Exception:An LEA that has put a new principal in a school who has not had IMPACTing Leadership training must provide Instructional Technology with a detailed plan for training the new principal and guaranteeing that the school will move forward at a steady pace toward full IMPACT implementation by 5pm, November 30, 2007. If the plan is accepted, the school will qualify to apply for the IMPACT 3 grant (deadline December 21, 2007). Please be aware that acceptance of the plan of action does not guarantee grant award for this school or any other school in the LEA.
  • The current principal participated in IMPACTing Leadership in 2006-2007 but is new to our school this year do we still qualify?
    • The new school can participate but the plan that the principal created for the old school will need to be redone prior to submission so that it is a plan for their new school.
  • When it says the money can be spent on "hardware, software and/or other resources," what can the "other resources" include? For instance, can they purchase computer furniture such as mobile carts or stations?
    • Mobile carts and stations are not allowable purchases. Resources should be directly tied to curriculum needs.
  • Funds must be encumbered by September 30, 2008. What about the the staff development and evaluation expense? Does that have to be encumbered by September 30th, also or just the hardware/software?
    • All funds must be encumbered by Sept. 30, 2008
  • The RTF says $400.00 per student for hardware, software, and other resource,: 10% for outside evaluation, 10% for staff development. Is the 20% taken off the top of the $400 per student? For example PCPS has 300 students and would receive $120,000 at $400 per student. Are they to spend the whole $120,000 on hardware/software..or is it $96,000 for hardware/software, $12,000 for staff development, and $12,000 for evaluation?
  • What are the certification requirements for the technology facilitator?
    • A technology faclitator may hold an 079 add on or the 077 masters- level license.
    • Licensure requirements are posted on the Instructional Technology Division web site.
  • If someone is enrolled in the certification program, would they qualify?
    • A provisional license is required for a person currently pursuing certification. The salary is based on the local salary schedule.
  • Does a Media Coordinator have to already be certified?
    • Yes
  • Will 2007 ADM figures be used?
    • The budget should be based on the 10th day report submitted for the 07-08 school year.
  • When, where and for how long will the IMPACT Academy be?
