One important piece of evidence will give you a head start on the case:   a password-protected map on the Web. It looks like the criminal spent a lot of time planning ahead, because the map is sprinkled with invisible hotspots. Each hotspot marks the location of any number of things: secret messages, crime scenes, data files, clues, spreadsheets, locations of underground tunnels, and more.

Ready to view the map? First, do these two things.

  1. Ask your teacher to email dsawyer@dpi.state.nc.us for the code, and then enter the code using the security keypad to the right.
  2. While you're waiting for the code to arrive, print your own Crime Scene Notebook.pdf and start sharpening your investigative skills with the Crime Buster Kit.pdf. Also, you can Learn How Forensic Scientists Analyze Data for Clues. (by Science News for Kids)
