You can become an expert at finding and using the information from a variety of sources. Make it easy on yourself and PLAN before you jump into all that information! Print and complete the Curiously Clever Web Search Planner.

  1. Get the BIG picture by first conducting a search with an Encyclopedia. Go to GROLIER MULTIMEDIA ENCYCLOPEDIA and locate the SEARCH box. Write down any new ideas or new questions that bubble to the surface.
  2. Ask your Media and/or Technology specialist to help you with the school's OPAC or Online Central Catalog. It will point you to all the information sources available right there in your building. Don't overlook the information sources you can hold in your hands, like books, videos, CD-ROMs, DVDs, newspapers, or magazines. If your library doesn't have the book you need, there is always "InterLibrary Loan."
  3. Get active in your search for information. Think about setting up interviews with experts in your community or over the Internet. Is there a museum nearby that has information you can use?
