1. Go to MySpace. www.myspace.com
2. Click on "Sign Up." (Upper right corner)
3. JOIN MySpace.com and create your own profile. Do not give out identifying information. Record your login and password for future use.
4. After you SIGN UP, click on BROWSE.
5. Look in the blue box for POSTAL CODE. In the drop down menu showing ANY, click on the down arrow and choose the number of miles you would like to search from your hometown. In the box to the right of "miles from" enter your zip code.
- UNCHECK the box for "show only users who have photos" and "show name and photo only."
- Under BROWSE FOR: select BOTH.
- Click UPDATE. (For example, you can click on the down arrow and select 10 miles from your local zip code and you can see search results for all of the children with MySpace pages that live in and within 10 miles of your home town. You can learn a lot of information about your child's classmates and friends this way.)
6. Now, let's search on your child's name. Chances are, your child created a profile with a catchy or funny name instead of their real name.
- Click on SEARCH in the menu along the top.
- Look for FIND A FRIEND and type your child's name in the box.
- Click FIND.
- Notice the little blue box to the right with the label: "Filter Your Friend Search."
- Select the number of miles and enter your zip code.
- Click UPDATE.
