Day 1: Fastest Coaster in the U.S.

Let’s start by using a database to look up the fastest coaster in the U.S.

1. Print the Coaster Chart and use it to gather data on the region in which the rollercoaster is located. Change your printer or page settings to print the chart landscape (horizontal orientation).

2. Link to the Record Holder’s Report Option screen and make the following choices:

Ready? Now it's time to “rock and rollercoaster” on over to the Roller Coaster Database! Don't give up if the database doesn't load on the first try. Go back and click on the link again.

3. Complete the remaining information on the chart. The first column offers Web sites and other resources to help you find the answers.

  • Use the encyclopedias in NC WiseOwl to look up information about the area.
  • Use Google Maps to pinpoint the address. Check out the satellite images while you’re there. And you must download Google Earth. It’s amazing!
