Exploring the Need for Protection Against Viruses and Vandalism

Teachers, this activity addresses Objectives 1.02, 1.03, 1.05, 1.06, and 2.14 of the new fifth grade computer/technology skills curriculum and will help students:

1. Understand terms/concepts related to the protection of computers, networks and information
2. Recognize appropriate behavior related to computers, networks and information (security, passwords, privacy, personal information) and the consequences of misuse
3. Discuss methods and tools used to protect computers, networks and information

Teaching Idea: Assign your most theatrical student to "act out" the role of the company's CEO, Mr. Hackerblocker, and set the scene for the activity.
